BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A pedestrian died after he was struck by a vehicle on Norris Road Thursday night.<\/p>\n
The California Highway Patrol said on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at around 8:55 p.m., officers were called to Norris Road, east of Stockton Avenue, for a report of a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.<\/p>\n
CHP said a preliminary investigation found that a 27-year-old Bakersfield man was driving a 2010 silver Toyota Corolla eastbound on Norris Road, east of Stockton Avenue, in the number one lane, at about 45 miles per hour.<\/p>\n
For reasons still under investigation, a pedestrian, identified as a male, was crossing southbound on Norris Road from the north shoulder, outside of a marked crosswalk.<\/p>\n
The driver of the Toyota was unable to take evasive action and subsequently struck the pedestrian, according to CHP.<\/p>\n
The pedestrian sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota immediately stopped nearby and cooperated with the investigation.<\/p>\n
