(TNND) \u2014 The show will go on for late-night comic Jimmy Kimmel after ABC announced he signed a one-year contract extension following a temporary preemption over his Charlie Kirk comments<\/a>. <\/p>\n

ABC suspended “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in September for remarks he made<\/a> following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. <\/p>\n

Kimmel returned to ABC on Sept. 23 and Sinclair stations <\/a>on Sept. 26 after feedback from viewers, advertisers, and community leaders, and a shooting at an ABC affiliate in Sacramento<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an emotional monologue, Kimmel explained that it was never his intention to make light of the murder of a young man. <\/p>\n

“I understand that to some that felt ill-timed or unclear, or maybe both, and for those who think I did point a finger, I get why you’re upset,” he said.<\/a><\/p>\n

President Donald Trump voiced his disappointment in a Truth Social post shortly after Kimmel’s return, stating, “I can\u2019t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back. The White House was told by ABC that his Show was cancelled!”<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the president didn’t let up on the late-night host as he hosted the Kennedy Center Honors.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI’ve watched some of the people that host,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI’ve watched some of the people that host. Jimmy Kimmel was horrible, and some of these people, if I can’t beat out Jimmy Kimmel in terms of talent, then I don’t think I should be president.\u201d<\/p>\n
