Artificial snow, the annual tree lighting and the much-anticipated Port of Los Angeles boat parade helped San Pedro residents usher in the Christmas season with an afternoon and evening filled with song, play and celebration on Saturday, Dec. 6.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Councilmember Tim McOsker led the tree lighting tradition in the Town Square, in front of the Los Angeles Maritime Museum on Harbor Boulevard.<\/p>\n

The event included a \u201cWinter Wonderland\u201d with snow provided for sledding and a collection of toys benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor.<\/p>\n

As evening fell, the L.A. Harbor Holiday Afloat Boat Parade, a 63-year-old tradition of festive lights and community spirit, began making its dazzling trip through the Port of Los Angeles\u2019 Main Channel, with spectators lining spots in San Pedro and Wimington to watch as decorated boats of all kinds moved by.<\/p>\n

The weekend in San Pedro wrapped up on Sunday, Dec. 7, with the 45th annual San Pedro Chamber Spirit of the Holidays Parade, featuring Little Leagues, Scouts, students, high school bands and equestrian units celebrating the holiday season and the community. Thousands of spectators lined the streets of downtown San Pedro to view the parade.<\/p>\n

If you missed San Pedro\u2019s parade, Wilmington\u2019s 2025 Heart of the Harbor Holiday Parade will step off at noon on Dec. 14, along Avalon Boulevard, from F to M streets.
