Knott\u2019s Merry Farm is all done up for the holidays with decor, shows and lots of new food, including some extra-large shareable items at Mrs. Knott\u2019s Chicken Dinner Restaurant.<\/p>\n
For one, there\u2019s the rather impressive Roofus sandwich that\u2019s big enough to feed four or five people. It\u2019s comprised of fried chicken patties, slaw and garlic aioli on a giant brioche bun.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe really wanted to wow people,\u201d said Executive Chef Tre Hardy. \u201cWe really wanted to have something that people don\u2019t see everywhere else. \u2026 This is an idea that one of our people came up with and we just built on it as a team. I think we were all wowed by it so we thought everybody else would be too.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Hardy, the shareable offerings \u2014 including a turkey club \u201cjumbowich\u201d \u2014 at Mrs. Knott\u2019s restaurant range from $40 to $50 and are served with a large salad.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Knott\u2019s is just part of the festive food picture. The Knott\u2019s Merry Farm food lineup includes about 75 new items, Hardy said. But there is at least one returning favorite: a turkey corn dog with a stuffing crust and boysenberry mustard.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe try not to repeat as much as possible,\u201d he said. \u201cWe try to really come up with new things and be innovative.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beyond food, Merry Farm, which runs through Jan. 4, has a full entertainment lineup, including a nightly \u2018Tis the Season Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, featuring a brand-new 50-foot Christmas tree, according to Production Manager Christopher Do.<\/p>\n
The Birdcage Theater offers two Christmas classics, \u201cA Calico Christmas Carol\u201d and \u201cThe Gift of the Magi, 1885.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHome for the Holidays\u201d returns to the Calico Mine Stage and the popular \u201cSnoopy\u2019s Night Before Christmas\u201d is in the Walter Knott Theater. The \u201cSnow and Glow\u201d show brightens the evenings with fake snow and twinkling lights in Ghost Town. The live music lineup includes Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, Fireman\u2019s Duo, Wandering Wranglers, Junio, Stone Soul and more.<\/p>\n
\u201cChristmas and the holidays are such a timeless and cherished part of the year,\u201d Do said. \u201cWe look at the shows our guests love year after year and explore how we can add new elements or make small changes to elevate the experience \u2014 keeping guests entertained and happy. Knott\u2019s has become a holiday tradition for families near and far, from our iconic ice shows to spectacular musical performances.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said each show offers something special.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom an aerialist soaring above the audience in \u2018Snoopy\u2019s Night Before Christmas\u2019 to hearing Scrooge deliver his iconic \u2018Bah Humbug\u2019 in \u2018A Calico Christmas Carol,\u2019 all of the shows bring something unique for our guests,\u201d he said. \u201cFor me, \u2018Home for the Holidays\u2019 holds a special place. It follows the Harper family as they prepare for the season, offering a warm, hometown Christmas feel right in the bustling heart of Southern California.\u201d<\/p>\n
Merchandise also plays a large role for the holidays at Knott\u2019s Berry Farm.<\/p>\n
James Kearns-Heath, manager of the merchandise department, said there are about 20 new items offered for sale this year, including a new light-up, interactive toy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is my favorite,\u201d he said. \u201cSo it produces bubbles, right? It is fun for kids to carry around the park. We also have different props located around the park that you can activate and they\u2019ll blow bubbles out. You can tag other guests and the lighting will change \u2026 but the coolest feature [is that you can] actually change the lighting and coloring of some of our attractions.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said guests can click the toy next to sensors in the park to change colors for the Supreme Scream tower, Calico Mine Ride and the iconic K that\u2019s at the top of the Sky Cabin.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo really, really neat toy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Rounding out the Merry season is the special Christmas jam.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnly comes out at Christmas time,\u201d Kearns-Heath said. \u201cIt\u2019s a wonderful blend. It\u2019s our cranberries, raspberries, orange peel pear, spices.
