HAYWARD, Calif. — At least six people were taken to the hospital Thursday morning after a massive explosion caused a large fire in Hayward, California, fire officials say.<\/p>\n

The Alameda County Fire Department says crews responded to the three-alarm fire. Eight engines and two trucks were on scene. It happened around 9:30 a.m., just hours after a construction crew damaged a gas line.<\/p>\n

At least six people were transported to the hospital Thursday morning after a massive explosion and a large fire in Hayward, fire officials say. Dramatic video shows the shocking moments.<\/p>\n

Fire officials believe two of the six people injured were workers in the street. The conditions of all the people taken to the hospital are unknown.<\/p>\n

Dramatic footage captured by a home’s Ring doorbell camera shows a massive explosion rocking a large building across the street.<\/p>\n

“We were sitting in the house and it just … everything shook. Stuff fell off the walls. And when we looked at the camera, it was like you were watching a war video,” said Brittany Maldonado, who provided the doorbell cam footage.<\/p>\n

Two homes were impacted by the explosion and fire, and a workshop in the back of one of them. Another home has some damage on the side facing the explosion. The neighborhood is a mixed housing and business area.<\/p>\n

Pacific Gas and Electric Company says they were notified that a third-party construction crew damaged an underground gas line around 7:30 a.m. while digging. The street has been the area of a construction project that’s been going on for about a year to widen sidewalks and bike lanes.<\/p>\n

PG&E crews responded and worked to stop the flow of gas, which was released at multiple locations, by 9:25 a.m. They say the explosion happened just 10 minutes later at 9:35 a.m.
