A 27-year-old man is under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence Thursday after allegedly striking and injuring eight Anaheim High School track athletes at an Anaheim intersection.<\/p>\n
The students were waiting on the southwest corner of North Harbor Boulevard and North Street \u2013 less than a mile from Anaheim High School \u2013 for the light to change and continue their run at about 2:55 p.m. when the driver swerved off the road, onto a sidewalk, and struck them, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Matt Sutter.<\/p>\n
The students were taken to a hospital with varying degrees of injuries, Sutter said.<\/p>\n
NBC 4 reported the driver was taken to a hospital and was later arrested by police.<\/p>\n
\u201d He showed some degree of objective signs of intoxication,\u201d Sutter said.<\/p>\n
The team\u2019s coach was behind the students and was running up to them when the collision happened, Sutter said.<\/p>\n
