BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 Madison Williams has been sentenced to seven years’ probation after being convicted of driving under the influence and crashing her vehicle into a home in 2022, severely injuring a 21-month-old child and injuring the parents, according to Kern County Superior Court records.<\/p>\n

In October 2025, a Kern County jury convicted Williams of multiple charges<\/a>, including driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher causing injury, and causing a fire of an inhabited structure. The jury also determined that Williams caused great bodily injury to a child under five years old and to the child’s parents.<\/p>\n

The incident happened on Sept. 14, 2022, just after midnight, when Williams ran a stop sign and crashed her car into a home at the intersection of Old River Road and Taft Highway in southwest Bakersfield. The crash resulted in a fire that burned the house to the ground. The family of three inside the home survived, but the child suffered serious injuries, including a skull fracture, a vertebrae fracture, a broken arm, and multiple broken ribs. The parents also sustained numerous broken bones.<\/p>\n

The Kern County District Attorney\u2019s Office reported that Williams showed signs of alcohol intoxication when officers arrived at the scene. A blood test revealed her blood alcohol content was 0.186%, more than twice the legal limit.<\/p>\n

Madison must complete AA\/NA meetings, not possess or consume alcohol, install an ignition interlock device for a year, complete 300 hours of community service, submit to alcohol testing, and refrain from breaking other laws.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors wanted a sentence of 16 years in prison for Williams.<\/p>\n
