FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 Central High School is facing new questions after a parent says his son\u2019s award-winning water polo team is being celebrated by the city, while the school still doesn\u2019t have its own pool.<\/p>\n
The Central High Men\u2019s Polo team is breaking records and ranking in the top 50 nationally.<\/p>\n
The Fresno City Council has recognized the efforts and proclaimed December 4th Central High School\u2019s Men\u2019s Water Polo Team Day.<\/p>\n
However, despite the accomplishments of the team, the school does not have its own pool.<\/p>\n
The students need to take a one-hour bus ride after school to East Campus to practice.<\/p>\n
Gabriel Suarez, a parent of a student, wrote a strongly worded letter to the school board about the situation.<\/p>\n
Suarez said, “The school needs to do what’s right and fix the problem that they caused when they redrew their boundaries, and they did not plan on updating Central High.”<\/p>\n
The letter stated that the situation was \u201cembarrassing,\u201d \u201cinequitable,\u201d and did not hold up to the school’s guiding principles of equity and access.<\/p>\n
