This route establishes the inaugural direct connection between the United States and South Australia, operating three times weekly on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner<\/a> for over 15 hours.<\/p>\n

The new flight reinforces United\u2019s leadership as the top US carrier across the Pacific.<\/p>\n

United Nonstop Flight to Adelaide<\/p>\n

United Airlines (UA) operates this seasonal route from San Francisco (SFO) to Adelaide (ADL) on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays until March 2026. The flight departs late evening and arrives two days later after crossing the Pacific.<\/p>\n

According to The Points Guy<\/a>, a dedicated group of aviation enthusiasts, known as AvGeeks, filled the inaugural flight.<\/p>\n

These fans recognize aircraft types instantly, know airline fare codes, and use the NATO phonetic alphabet casually. The community includes people of all ages and backgrounds, creating an energetic atmosphere at the gate.<\/p>\n

Passengers included Warren Rieutort-Louis from Cupertino, wearing a custom kangaroo outfit, who chases United inaugurals and has attended routes like Bangkok, Greenland, and Mongolia this year.<\/p>\n

The Boeing 787-9 includes 48 Polaris business-class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration with direct aisle access and 75-inch flat beds.<\/p>\n

A 4-row mini-cabin provides privacy. Window seats alternate proximity to the window; odd-numbered seats sit closest. Center pairs have large dividers.<\/p>\n

In 2026, upgrades will add suites with doors, ottomans, and expand to 56 seats. Premium Plus has 21 seats in 2-3-2, plus Economy Plus and Economy in 3-3-3.<\/p>\n
