{"id":94112,"date":"2025-12-14T08:48:21","date_gmt":"2025-12-14T08:48:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/94112\/"},"modified":"2025-12-14T08:48:21","modified_gmt":"2025-12-14T08:48:21","slug":"oakland-physical-therapist-accused-of-overbilling-federal-program-by-over-5-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/94112\/","title":{"rendered":"Oakland physical therapist accused of overbilling federal program by over $5 million"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Federal prosecutors accused an Oakland physical therapist of overbilling a federal health care program by more than $5 million, including billing for services not rendered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Shane Jackson overbilled the U.S. Department of Labor&#8217;s Office of Workers&#8217; Compensation Programs for his treatment of postal workers for nearly a decade, according to a criminal case filing made public Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Prosecutors allege Jackson operated a health care fraud scheme from about 2015 to 2025 through Action Jackson Physical Therapy, billing for services he did not render\u00a0&#8211; including ultrasound and infrared therapies\u00a0&#8211; and treating multiple patients at once while billing the time as one-on-one care.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The filing alleges Jackson routinely billed an average of 2.28 hours per patient despite spending less than an hour with each one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">U.S. Attorney Craig Missakian&#8217;s office charged Jackson with two felony counts of health care fraud and included a forfeiture allegation.
