Bakersfield residents joined the nationwide \u201cNo Kings\u201d protests on Oct. 18 against the policies of the Trump administration.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This is the second wave of the \u201cNo Kings\u201d protest this year, the previous one from June 14.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Hundreds of people marched around downtown Bakersfield before meeting at Mill Creek park for the rally.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re out here today because we are protesting what is happening at the federal government,\u201d said Noe Garcia, Democratic party regional director for the Central Valley.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The rally had booths from different volunteer organizations, there were also speakers sharing their experiences and encouraging people to be more active in the community.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Garcia was one of the speakers and said he was there hoping to recruit volunteers to \u201cjoin us in the fight to protect and save our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lupe Rodriguez, a Bakersfield resident, attended the rally with her granddaughter, sharing that she brought her because she wanted her to see \u201cwhat democracy looked like.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI am against everything Trump is doing and I support democracy, and I support the immigrants,\u201d said Rodriguez.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The protesters consisted of diverse groups of people, holding up a variety of signs and some wearing costumes.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just think it\u2019s very powerful, us coming together as communities all over, It\u2019s really sending a message,\u201d said Amy Montes, a Bakersfield resident.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
