{"id":96548,"date":"2025-12-16T09:43:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T09:43:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/96548\/"},"modified":"2025-12-16T09:43:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T09:43:09","slug":"small-plane-crashes-in-central-mexico-killing-at-least-7-people-official-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/96548\/","title":{"rendered":"Small plane crashes in central Mexico, killing at least 7 people, official says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MEXICO CITY (AP) \u2014 A small plane crashed in central <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/mexico\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mexico<\/a> while trying to make an emergency landing Monday, killing at least seven people, Mexico State Civil Protection Coordinator Adri\u00e1n Hern\u00e1ndez said.<\/p>\n<p>The accident took place in San Mateo Atenco, an industrial area three miles from the Toluca airport, about 31 miles west of Mexico City. The plane had taken off from Acapulco, along Mexico\u2019s Pacific coast.<\/p>\n<p>Hern\u00e1ndez said the private jet had registered eight passengers and two crew, but hours after the crash only seven bodies had been recovered.<\/p>\n<p>He said the plane had apparently tried to land on a soccer field but hit the metal roof of a nearby business, starting a large fire.
