Anyone looking for proof the Bay Area has a sizzling food scene<\/a> just got another data point. OpenTable has released its annual list of 100 most-popular restaurants<\/a>, and six local joints make the cut.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome lists are decided by critics, but not the Top 100 \u2014 this one is driven by diner demand,\u201d writes the booking site, which analyzed more than 10 million reviews to develop its ranking.<\/p>\n

Prominent on the list, with a rare and perfect 5-star rating, is Sun Moon Studio<\/a> in West Oakland. Run by industry vets Sarah Cooper and Alan Hsu, the shoebox-size restaurant garnered headlines this year by receiving one star from the Michelin Guide<\/a>, making it only the second starred restaurant in the city.<\/p>\n

The three-Michelin-starred eatery SingleThread Restaurant & Inn<\/a> in Healdsburg is also included. The restaurant is known for its adherence to farm-to-table dining, growing hundreds of different varieties of crops on its Sonoma County land.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything is based, first and foremost, on what comes from our farm,\u201d chef Kyle Connaughton has told the Michelin Guide<\/a>. \u201cThat drives the conversation here, the cuisine, it drives everything that we do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rounding out the list are four restaurants in San Francisco: French-inspired Gary Danko<\/a>, the modern Hellenic eatery Kokkari Estiatorio<\/a>, The Progress<\/a> and\u00a0House of Prime Rib<\/a>. The Progress is a sister operation to State Bird Provisions, the creative restaurant that made (non-Asian) dim sum dining a trend. House of Prime Rib, meanwhile, serves what you\u2019d expect and was recently rated as one of the toughest reservations to book<\/a> in the city.<\/p>\n

All told, California scored high on OpenTable\u2019s list with 18 restaurants total. Other high-ranking states include Texas (10 listings) and New York (11 listings). Scores were based on 10 million-plus reviews from September 2024 to the end of August 2025 and took into account diner ratings, percentage of five-star reviews and reservations made in advance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Anyone looking for proof the Bay Area has a sizzling food scene just got another data point.
