BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 One person died after being struck by a truck-trailer on Highway 166 south of Maricopa.<\/p>\n
The California Highway Patrol said on Monday, December 15, 2025, at around 4:19 p.m., the Bakersfield Communications Center received calls regarding an injury crash on Highway 166, east of Soda Lake Road. <\/p>\n
CHP said a preliminary investigation found that a driver of a Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Highway 166, east of Soda Lake Road, with four people. The driver of the Honda came to a stop on the westbound shoulder, partially blocking the westbound lane of Highway 166.<\/p>\n
According to CHP, the driver stopped to check the Honda\u2019s right-side tires after hitting the right-side curb and embankment. As the driver tried to go back inside the vehicle, he was struck by a truck-trailer combination traveling westbound on Highway 166, according to CHP.<\/p>\n
The driver of the Honda died.<\/p>\n
The driver of the truck-tractor combination was not hurt. There were no injuries to the passengers of the Honda.<\/p>\n
The westbound lane of Highway 166 was closed for about four hours for investigation and cleanup.<\/p>\n
