(FOX26) \u2014 Local leaders shared the results of the Advancing Fresno County Guaranteed Income Program.<\/p>\n<p>The program granted 150 Fresno County families an extra $500 a month.<\/p>\n<p>Philanthropists and donors partnered with the Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission to pay for this.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Levine, a Fundraiser Advisor, said, \u201cIt dramatically improved health, decreased stress, and increased full-time employment. It gave people the opportunity they deserve and need to be able to catch up and to thrive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For a family in Huron, that is what the program did.<\/p>\n<p>[RELATED] <a href=\"https:\/\/kmph.com\/news\/local\/visalia-man-gets-back-pay-after-unpaid-benefits-questions-edd-accountability\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Visalia man gets back pay after unpaid benefits, questions EDD accountability<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Derril and Areil Program recipients said, &#8220;That gave us an opportunity to breathe for a year. you don&#8217;t know how awesome it is to be able to breathe because you don&#8217;t have the weight of finances beating you down, and that&#8217;s what this program allowed us to do. and it allowed us to not only bring that extra 500 in a month, but it allowed us to budget so we&#8217;re not going back down to that same place we were before.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The EOC program helped people in the rural farming community of Huron and other communities in Fresno.<\/p>\n<p>All with the same intention of lifting people out of poverty<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FRESNO, Calif.
