FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 A woman and toddler died in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Jefferson Ave. and Walnut Ave. near Easton in Fresno County on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
CHP says the 28-year-old woman driver ran a stop sign and was hit by an oncoming SUV around 10:15 a.m.<\/p>\n
The SUV did not have a stop sign.<\/p>\n
The impact caused both vehicles to overturn off the northeast corner of the intersection. <\/p>\n
The Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 17-year-old boy with a 16-year-old passenger, came to rest upright. <\/p>\n
Both occupants, who were wearing seat belts, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.<\/p>\n
CHP says the woman and child in a Honda Civic were not restrained. <\/p>\n
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the toddler was transported to the hospital but later died from her injuries. <\/p>\n
Investigators noted the absence of a child safety seat in the vehicle.<\/p>\n
It is currently unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, though impairment is not suspected. <\/p>\n
