Winter storms across US causing delays, cancellations

Weather issues in other parts of the country, including winter conditions affecting major hubs, have had ripple effects nationwide, impacting aircraft availability and flight crews even as conditions in Tampa remained relatively calm.

For many travelers, the delays meant extra time at the airport and shifting plans.

Nancy Deblock, who was traveling back to New England after visiting family in Tampa, said she wasn’t surprised by the delay on Monday.

“Not surprised. We had some freezing rain back at home that’s what caused the delay,” Deblock said. “I’m delayed, yeah, but it’s not that big of a deal. It’s like an hour.”

Airport officials encouraged travelers to continue checking flight statuses frequently and to allow extra time as airlines work through lingering disruptions.
