[Tampa, Fla.] — The Iowa Hawkeyes are preparing to face the Vanderbilt Commodores in the ReliaQuest Bowl for their final game of the season.
The Hawkeyes are determined to end their 14-game losing streak against ranked teams, as they take on number 14 Vanderbilt. Success will depend heavily on Iowa’s offensive line.
At a recent press conference, Coach Kirk Ferentz expressed his emotions after the team won the Joe Moore Award for the best offensive line in the country.
“It meant a lot. Happiest for our players. George Barnett’s done a great job and people in our area know we went through some bumps in that area, that offensive line, a couple of years ago. Attrition, injuries– we’ve been through it. Guys maybe that you were counting on didn’t play quite the way you want. That’s football. It happens at all positions. But the way they’ve all stuck to it, you look at our seniors, they’ve all got great stories. And the two guys that graduated are playing on NFL rosters right now,” Ferentz said.
The Hawkeye fans showed strong support today at the Hawkeye huddle near the event, with a great turnout for the black and gold.
Stay tuned for more updates on the game, including the parade and rally in Ybor City, as the Hawkeyes and Commodores prepare for kickoff tomorrow at 11 a.m. Iowa time.
