Calling all filmmakers: The KB Film Festival wants you on the big screen.

Now in its 3rd year, the festival will take place from January 29th to February 1st, 2026. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to submit their work–from enthusiastic hobbyists to seasoned professionals in the field.

Longtime directors, producers and filmmakers Isabel Custer and Maite Garrido Thornton first began the venture in collaboration with the Key Biscayne Community Foundation in 2023 and have brought fresh talent from all over South Florida to the Key Biscayne community.

Community members have truly savored every last minute of the chosen films, bringing in a full house almost every year since its inception.

The categories are as follows: Best Feature, Best Short, and Best Short (Youth Spotlight). Both the Feature & Short Categories are completely open to filmmakers of all ages and territories. Features must be at least 60 minutes, and shorts should have a running time of under 60 minutes (although under 20 minutes is preferred).

There is also a special category for “Spotlight on Key Biscayne,” which welcomes filmmakers who are either residents of Key Biscayne or have made films about the island and its surrounding area. Films can be either fiction or non-fiction, and must run for no more than 120 minutes.

The “Spotlight on Youth” category is especially created for South Florida filmmakers aged 21 and under, and films must run for no more than five minutes. If your film is selected, you must attend.

All films must be no more than five years old on the date of the live festival. No horror films are allowed.
