FAMU cancels big screen viewing of sold-out homecoming game due to safety concerns

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The big screen viewing for Florida A&M University’s homecoming game has been canceled, the FAMU Athletics Department announced just hours before kickoff.

The viewing was expected to be held at the Knight Foundation Plaza and the Will Packer Amphitheater.

“While we were excited to add an additional option for the community to view the sold-out game, the cancellation was made to help ensure that everyone can continue to have a safe and enjoyable homecoming experience throughout the weekend,” the department said in a social post.

The Florida A&M Rattlers are expected to take on the Alcorn State Braves at Bragg Memorial Stadium with kickoff beginning at 4 p.m.
