St. James City Civic Association President Cena Hamby is thrilled that the big breakfast, to be put on at the center Saturday, Jan. 17, from 8-11 a.m., will be the first one of the new year, with the same breakfast being offered the second Saturday of February and March.

“Usually we get about 200 locals. It has everything-eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, pancakes and all the fixings,” Hamby Said.

The breakfast, she said, is $9 with all profits designated to the Civic Center operational fund. There will be live music as well as a garage sale, with indoor vendors.

Work on the building from storm-related damage is finally done, she said, leaving a feeling of completion.

“The building is finally complete with our new sewage system. Everything is really ready. We always need new things, for instance we still have to buy all new tables and chairs because they sat in flood water for so long,” Hamby said.

The building is physically sound for now, Hamby said, and they have flood prevention equipment for smaller floods in the future. Everyone is invited to come out to have breakfast, shop the garage sale and show support for the Center.
