A family of three and their dog are rebuilding after a house fire on New Year’s Day.
The fire impacted a home on Southwest Seaside Road in Port St. Lucie just after midnight Thursday. Fire crews were on scene and extinguished the blaze, but photos show fairly extensive damage.

“Everything changed in a second,” said Frank Quintana. “Got them out as fast as possible. Nobody got hurt thank God.”
Quintana says the family was wrapping up New Year’s Eve celebrations when they noticed smoke coming from the garage. They lost their everything including their only car, clothes and memorable belongings in the blaze.
“The only car that we had,” said Qunitana. “I take her to work, then I have to go to work. We take our daughter to school.”
His wife, Sylvia Figueroa, says their 9-year-old daughter’s room is a total loss. As they wait for insurance claims to move forward, they’re temporary staying at a hotel and leaning on the community’s support.
“We have to be strong, positive, even if we don’t feel strong,” said Figueroa.
A GoFundMe has been started to help the family rebuild. American Red Cross volunteer members of the Disaster Action Team, from the Palm Beach Treasure Coast Chapter, also assisted the family with emergency aid.
They are also providing the family with emergency financial assistance, mental health services and recovery assistance.
