An early morning house fire on New Year’s Day in Port St. Lucie displaced a family of three, leaving behind a scene of devastation on SW Seaside Road. Within hours, the Palm Beach Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross deployed its Disaster Action Team to assist two adults and a child affected by the blaze. The disaster-trained volunteers provided immediate emergency aid, including health and mental health services, emotional support, and resources to help the family begin their recovery journey. Photos from the scene reveal the charred remains of the home, underscoring the severity of the fire. All assistance offered by the Red Cross is free and funded through donations, ensuring families in crisis receive critical support when they need it most. (Howard Primous)
