CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The City of Cape Coral implemented a temporary burn ban starting Friday to minimize fire hazards and ensure the safety and welfare of residents.

This ban prohibits recreational burns, such as fire pits and campfires, as well as city-permitted burns like bonfires and land clearing control burns. Fireworks are also prohibited.

Fires used solely for cooking purposes, where flames and heat are fully contained within a device like a grill, are still permitted.

The burn ban will remain until the local drought index drops below 600 for seven consecutive days.
