TAMPA, Fla. — Riders of the HART bus between downtown Tampa and the University of South Florida will start paying for that trip starting Monday.
Route 1 has been free to increase ridership. The Hillsborough County Transit Authority said it worked, and the route saw a ridership increase of 45 percent.
While the Tampa City Council decided not to keep the free fares going, they did approve $1 million in upgrades for the route.
