The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating the city’s first homicide of the year after an incident Sunday in northwest Tallahassee.

Officers responding to the scene in the 2900 block of Mission Road discovered a dead adult male, according to an incident alert posted on social media at about 4:20 p.m. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, how the man was killed and provided no immediate details about possible suspects.

TPD Watch Commander Damon Miller told the Democrat police were called to the scene at 2:18 p.m. and found the victim inside a residence. When asked about the cause of death and if there were any suspects, he said it is “still under investigation.”

Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incident but did not speak with officers at the scene to call TPD at 850-891-4200. Anonymous tips can also be submitted for a possible reward through Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS.

On Sunday, Oct. 26, a woman was shot multiple times and inured at a nearby residence in the 2800 block of Mission Road. A resident nearby described on social media hearing eight gunshots.

In 2025, the Tallahassee Police Department investigated 20 homicides. Only four of them are still open and active, with arrests made in all the other cases.
