Grace ‘Kitty’ Baker, 93, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born January 25, 1932, in Wood County, Ohio, Grace was her parents’ eldest child and helped raise her four younger brothers. She was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints then carried her faith forward, becoming a member of Orange Park Methodist Church. She was a pillar of strength and compassion for all.
After marrying the love of her life, Ronald Baker, she relocated from Ohio to Jacksonville, Florida after Ron joined the Navy. She traveled throughout the US as his duty stations changed. Throughout their 62 years marriage, she cared for their home and children with quiet strength and unwavering love. A devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Grace poured her heart into her family, home, and community. Her passions included quilting, gardening, traveling, and crafting. Her talents as a seamstress were unmatched. She never hesitated to roll up her sleeves to fix whatever needed repairing. Grace was independent, resourceful, and nurturing.
Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ronald P. Baker; her parents; her brothers Charles (Susy) and Ralph (Linda) and grandson Kevin Jordan. She is survived by her loving children: daughters Elizabeth Y. Corbett and Deborah M. Baker, son Richard Baker wife Sandra; brothers Don, wife Mary and Theodore “Ted” wife Brenda; five cherished grandchildren: Erika Poirrier (Erik), Jason Corbett (Shannon), Deborah Pierson (Martin), Elizabeth Belcher, and Joshua Belcher; and five adored great-grandchildren: Benjamin Poirrier, Ellie Poirrier, Zachary Corbett, Sydney Corbett, and Vernetta Williamson.
The reception celebrating Kitty’s Life will be Tuesday, January 20 between 2:00 and 4:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall of Orange Park Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Hospice & Palliative Care.
