No more speculation or uncertainty. The NFL playoffs’ wild card round is set and the AFC’s No. 3 seed Jacksonville Jaguars will take on the No. 6 Buffalo Bills. The contest is between a team that radically turned around its fortunes, going from a 4-13 record in 2024 to 13-4 in 2025, and a team that hopes that with the Kansas City Chiefs out of the way, it can finally secure a long-sought-after Super Bowl victory. Here’s where to watch the Bills vs Jaguars on CBS at 1 p.m. ET on Jan. 11 as these two long-separated rivals meet in an unpredictable playoff matchup.

The Bills enter the wild card round feeling cautiously optimistic. In many respects, they appear to have everything going for them. After a mediocre season, the Baltimore Ravens don’t threaten Buffalo as much as they once did (and as of Jan. 4th, are no longer in the playoffs) , and the Bills’ long-time nemesis Chiefs are out of the playoffs. On paper, this presents a clear pathway to a Lombardy Trophy for a franchise that desperately wants one. But the elimination of past playoff foes doesn’t mean it’ll be a cakewalk for the Bills, no matter how heroic quarterback Josh Allen might be.Â
The Jaguars won 13 games this season (one more than the Bills) and they captured the AFC South for the first time since 2022. They are 7-2 at home, where they’ll host Buffalo in their wild card matchup. The Bills are a lackluster 5-3 away from home this year, and they haven’t won a playoff game on the road since 1992. Yikes.
But history doesn’t always determine the future, and the Bills will march into Jacksonville with one of the league’s best offenses. They slaughtered the New York Jets in a largely meaningless Week 18 matchup, 35-8. They went toe-to-toe with the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17, losing by a single point. Before that, they won four games in a row, including a hard-fought victory against the New England Patriots.. But their receiving corps remains a constant concern, and the team has too often had to rely on late-game heroics.
The Jaguars are riding high after securing the AFC South and wrapping up their season with a whopping eight-straight victories. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence had arguably the best season of his career, while running back Travis Etienne Jr. rushed for more than 1,000 yards and reached the endzone a career-high 13 times. Jacksonville was a big question mark at the beginning of the season, and remained so about midway through the year. But a spectacular winning streak has many convinced they could surpass expectations once again in the playoffs.Â
Here’s how to find out how this unpredictable matchup will unfold.
