LEHIGH ACRES – The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit is continuing its investigation into gunshots fired at Veterans Park in Lehigh Acres.

LCSO said that Monday night, detectives discovered that dozens of individuals had gathered at the park for a fight, during which a person brandished a firearm, pistol-whipped a victim, and fired a shot into the air. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies quickly saturated the area to ensure there was no active threat to the public. They detained potential suspects and attempted to gather statements from witnesses, but many declined to provide information or remain on the scene.

Overnight, authorities reviewed witness accounts, potential suspects, and numerous videos posted on social media. No arrests have been made at this time.

“The safety and security of our residents remains our top priority,” said the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in a statement. Deputies and detectives from the 2nd Precinct have increased patrols at Veterans Park and are working with park rangers to enhance visibility.

The investigation remains active as multiple units within the Lee County Sheriff’s Office work to identify additional participants involved in the incident.
