FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A man was shot Tuesday morning at a Fort Lauderdale hotel, and a woman was detained as police investigated the shooting that was possibly domestic-related, authorities confirmed.
Fort Lauderdale police said officers responded at about 9:50 a.m. to a report of a person shot at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott North, located at 6550 N. Andrews Ave., near the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Police said officers immediately rendered medical aid until Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews were able to safely enter the scene and take over care.
They said the victim was taken as a trauma alert to Broward Health Medical Center. His age, identity and condition weren’t immediately released.
Police said the shooter is a woman who was detained for questioning.
They said preliminary information indicates the shooting may be related to a domestic violence incident.
Police have not released a motive, and the relationship between the victim and the suspect remains unclear.
Tuesday’s incident is the second reported shooting in Fort Lauderdale in the past two days. On Monday, police detained a woman for questioning after they said she allegedly shot a man near a bus bench on Northwest Ninth Street.
