In Loving Memory of
LCDR John “Doug” Douglas Casteen Jr.

November 13, 1937 – December 19, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John “Doug” Casteen Jr. of Orange Park on December 19, 2025. Doug left us peacefully, enveloped by his beloved family, as the timeless tunes of classic country music with a sprinkling in of the powerful voices of the Three Tenors.
Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, Doug enjoyed a childhood filled with adventure as a military child alongside his dear sister Joyce and brothers, Bill and Jim. This nomadic life helped him forge lasting friendships and cultivated a deep love for family. He dedicated an impressive 30 years to the United States Navy, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Not one to rest, Doug pursued higher education later in life, earning his accounting degree from the University of North Florida at 54. After retiring, he devoted his time to volunteering with the Clay County Historical Society and assisting seniors and veterans with their taxes.
Doug will be lovingly remembered by his two children, John (Rheba) and Sydney (Adam); his four grandchildren, Ally, JD, William, and Miley; and his brother Bill (Judy). He now reunites with his devoted wife of 57 years, June, along with his parents Jack and Grace, sister Joyce, and brother Jim in eternal rest.
Join us in celebrating Doug’s remarkable life on January 17, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home in Green Cove Springs, FL.
