In honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, the Town of Davie will be hosting its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 1 p.m. This free event will take place at the Pine Island Multipurpose Center gymnasium, 3801 S. Pine Island Road.

The ceremony will feature a reading of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, guest speakers, live musical performances and light refreshments. Speakers include Town of Davie Mayor Judy Paul, Town Councilmembers and more.

Town of Davie Closures

In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Town of Davie municipal offices will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026. Please take note of the following Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts facility hours below for Monday:

Pine Island Fitness Center will open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Pine Island Aquatic Center will open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Pine Island Multipurpose Center is closed.

All Town parks, playgrounds and restrooms will be open from 9 a.m. to sunset with the exception of:

Driftwood, Shenandoah, Waterford and Waverly Park will close at 9 p.m.

Pine Island Park/Bamford Sports Complex will close at 10 p.m.

Programmed sports activities will not be performed on this day.

Municipal offices will resume regular operation on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Solid Waste Services Update

Town of Davie solid waste services, including curbside garbage collection and bulk pickup, will not be affected on January 19, 2026. All curbside and bulk pickup services will continue as scheduled. As a reminder, solid waste collection occurs between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
