For the Orlando Sentinel’s 150th birthday, we’re digging into our archives to show how we have covered Central Florida over the years. Today we take a look at some of the early photos we have from the opening of UCF, which was originally known as Florida Technological University. Classes started at FTU in 1968.

FTU's Science Building is shown during its construction in October 1967. This is how class registration worked at UCF in the 1980s. Classes were displayed by overhead projector and students wrote down their choices to be entered into a computer.
