CAPE CORAL, Fla.—The Cape Coral Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday at a jewelry store located at 110 NE 2nd Pl.
A heavy police presence was reported Tuesday morning, when authorities closed the business down to begin their investigation.
According to Cape Coral police, the victim of the robbery had not sustained serious injuries from the altercation.
Police tape was draped around the store’s perimeter for hours, eventually coming down and replaced with a sign reading, “The store is temporarily closed. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
WINK News arrived on the scene, where reporter Paul Dolan interviewed witnesses.
“I moved here thinking Cape Coral was safe, and I’ve been hearing a lot of these lately,” said Cape Coral resident Katrina Sroufe.
Heather Graves, inside the nearby Diamond Spa and Nails Salon, shared her experience.
“A lot of cops filled up the parking lot,” said Graves. “And then all of a sudden, the cops came right up to our door, and they were like, ‘You guys need to all go, because something is about to pop off here.'”
Police provided an additional update regarding this investigation, saying, “Because of how quickly this investigation is developing, that is all we can release at this time.”
