Tampa Bay is sticking with Todd Bowles to continue as the Buccaneers head coach in 2026

  • January 8, 2026

TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) – Just one day after Baltimore Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh was fired after an 18-year tenure, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to stick with Head Coach Todd Bowles as they look ahead to the 2026 season.

Bowles is coming off his fourth season at the helm in Tampa, and the first season that he didn’t lead the Buccaneers to a divisional title and appearance in the playoffs.

The 62-year-old head coach will look to reshape his coaching staff heading into year five. The Bucs, after starting the season 6-2 heading into the bye week, finished on a 2-7 run to narrowly miss the postseason.

“I’ve earned the chance,” Bowles said about coming back. “I’ve won three straight division titles, so that says a lot as far as I’m concerned. I don’t really have a message for fans other than true fans are true fans and we’re going to try to do our best to go out there and win for them. They’re going to feel how they feel, but that’s not a coach’s problem. The coach’s problem is to make the team better and that’s all I’m looking forward to.”

Bowles has an overall record of 35-33 since taking over as Tampa Bay’s head coach in 2022.
