CALHOUN COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -The Great Florida Snow of 2025 brought unprecedented joy to Northwest Florida, and now the Calhoun County Community Foundation is turning that joy into a commemorative photo album.
“Schools were closed, and people got outside and enjoyed each other’s company,” said Jami Daniels Joe, the president of the Calhoun County Community Foundation. “I think that’s the number one takeaway — was the sheer joy that it brought people in Northwest Florida.”
The foundation started a thread on their social media platform, asking people to post their photos, and received a wide variety of submissions.
From nature shots to families, people building snowmen, and pets enjoying the snow, the photos they received led to the decision to compile a special keepsake.
With more than 1,000 photo submissions, the album has been in the works since last January.
“The album ended up being over 100 pages. We tried our hardest not to cut any images out,” said Joe. “We wanted everyone to be included in this that submitted photos.”
Joe says the snow albums are in high demand.
“It’s something to hold onto, pass down. We’ve had families reach out and say, I’m buying one for each of my grandchildren,” said Joe. “I want them to be able to remember when they were four years old and playing in the snow.”
