This is the deadliest area for car crashes in Florida, new data shows

  • January 8, 2026

ORLANDO, Fla. – It’s already been a week into the new year, and state officials have revealed which parts of Florida were most affected by fatal car crashes in 2025.

According to state data, there were over 358,000 crashes statewide last year — a figure that has been steadily dropping since 2021 — with nearly 3,000 of those crashes being fatal.

While state data shows that Miami-Dade County saw the greatest number of fatal crashes in 2025 (259 in total), it was far from the deadliest overall.

When factoring in population size, the deadliest turned out to be Hamilton County, which saw a greater ratio of crashes.

In fact, the 10 deadliest Florida counties for car crashes last year were as follows:

Central Florida didn’t manage to break the top 10 for deadliest counties this time around. The closest was Marion County, with roughly 1.89 fatal crashes per 10,000 residents.

However, one Central Florida county actually ranked as the safest area of the state: Seminole County.
