PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A daily shower is routine for many — but for someone experiencing homelessness, it can restore dignity, even if only for a moment. An event called Dance for Dignity is committed to offering that relief to those in need on the Treasure Coast.
The dance is being hosted by a local non-profit group called CareBag, Inc., which helps those struggling with homelessness by providing free showers and hygiene services.
This high-energy community fundraiser will bring together fitness groups, families, and local businesses to support access to a basic yet life-changing need: safe, dignified mobile showers.
“Dignity is not a luxury; it’s a necessity,” said CareBag founder Roxy Brown. “When our neighbors can shower and care for themselves, they’re better able to seek employment, access services, and face the day with confidence. Dance for Dignity is our community’s chance to move for a cause and show that hygiene is a right, not a privilege.”
The event is being held Friday, Jan. 9, at the Port St. Lucie Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd, from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.
