FORT MYERS, Fla.—A Broadway star is headed to Southwest Florida, bringing joy and entertainment to Fort Myers. The hit musical “Some Like It Hot” opens at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall next week.
Edward Juvier, who plays Osgood in Some Like It Hot, shared his excitement about bringing the show to Fort Myers. Juvier has previously performed on Broadway in “Les Misérables” and “Phantom of the Opera.” This will be his third time playing at Barbara B. Mann, making this stop a familiar one.
Some Like It Hot is based on the classic 1959 film and offers a modern twist on the story. The tour has been on the road for more than a year, delighting audiences across the country with hundreds of shows. Juvier emphasized that this version stands out for its energy and playful nature.
“It really is just a chance for people to sit in a room together and watch a story and be happy and be joyful,” said Juvier. “We really are trying to spread joy more than trying to give you a big message, you know, but if you happen to catch one, that’s what really makes it special. So I hope that everybody has fun and enjoys our wonderful story in today’s world.”
The production celebrates diversity while keeping the focus on fun, music, and escapism. Some Like It Hot opens Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall.
