Cape Coral City Council approved more than $14,112,298 worth of utilities projects at its Jan. 7 regular meeting.

Among its largest ticket items, the city awarded the firm Douglas N. Higgins Inc. $6,674,064 to complete work on the addition of water supply wells. The cost includes labor, construction materials and testing for six Upper Floridian Aquifer water supply wells for Phase 1 of the North Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant Expansion Project.

As part of the same Phase 1 project, the city awarded a $5,101,020 bid to Accurate Drilling Systems Inc. for the installation and testing of a raw water main pipeline.

The city also approved $2,337,214 for the firm Andrew Sitework LLC for the rehabilitation and refurbishment of five duplex lift stations.

As part of the city’s wastewater collection and transmission system, the stations are routinely inspected and rehabilitated.
