The second half of the 2025 Florida high school football season is seeing teams continue to jockey for position in district play, with the closing of the regular season drawer closer and closer.

The undefeated IMG Academy Ascenders came off of a bye week and defeated a solid NFL Academy squad, remaining firmly Florida’s No. 1 team, with Chaminade-Madonna Prep and Armwood following at No. 2-3, respectively. Which other teams were able to crack the latest set of Top 25 Florida high school football rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Florida high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Oct. 19.

1. IMG Academy Ascenders

IMG Academy (7-0) played their first regular season game at home this past Friday night against the NFL Academy out of the United Kingdom and rolled to a 41-24 victory. That’s seven straight victories, with some powerhouses coming into Bradenton in the coming weeks.

The Ascenders have looked a lot more like its dominant self under the watch of first-year head coach Greg Studrawa. It’s been no easy path, either, with impressive victories over The First Academy, Hoover (Ala.), Winslow Township, Coronado (Nev.), Phenix City Central (Ala.), Venice and now NFL Academy.

Up next for IMG Academy, the Ascenders faces off against East St. Louis (Ill.) at home this upcoming Saturday afternoon. Final three games of the 2025 slate lines up as one of the tougher schedules in the country, with East St. Louis, The Hun School (N.J.) and St. Frances Academy (Md.), respectively.

2. Chaminade-Madonna Lions

Chaminade-Madonna Prep (7-1) have won seven straight games since losing the regular season opener to nationally ranked St. Frances Academy of Baltimore. For the Lions, their eyes are set on winning another Class 1A state title come December at Pitbull Stadium.

Four-star Derrek Cooper (Texas commit) is as good as they come for running backs, with the senior rushing for 506 yards on 56 carries and scoring seven touchdowns. The offense is more than just Cooper alone, however. Also putting up some strong numbers is junior Arwin Jackson, who has rushed for 481 yards and four scores.

A bright spot is the youth movement at quarterback for the Lions as 14-year old Malik Leonard, who has completed 71 of 100 passes (71 percent) for 1,227 yards and 15 touchdowns this fall.

The Lions look to make it eight straight victories when they travel to Cardinal Gibbons this week.

3. Armwood Hawks

The Hawks of Seffner, who are now coming off their eighth straight win and third straight shutout, a 58-0 defeat of Steinbrenner, look unbeatable at the moment. Armwood could be serious contenders to upend West Boca Raton in Class 6A this fall with the way they’re playing.

There’s plenty of reasons to like this undefeated Armwood (8-0) team, including senior three-star quarterback Rhys Brush, who is committed to USF. The Hawks return to action this week against Wharton (4-5) as they continue on their quest for an undefeated regular season.

Looking deeper at this Armwood roster and head coach Evan Davis has a slew of Power Four recruits littered all over the defense, including in the secondary with cornerbacks Jaelen Waters (Miami commit), Larry Warren (UNLV commit) and safeties D’Montae Tims (Colorado commit), Kallen Martinez (UConn commit).

4. Miami Northwestern Bulls

Miami Northwestern since its victory over rival Miami Central has had a breezy stretch, with their latest victory being a 28-0 romp of Miami Palmetto.

Despite the departure of coach Teddy Bridgewater, the Bulls have remained one of Florida’s top tier programs. When looking at this team, there’s a very real possibility of repeating as Class 3A state champions. Neimann Lawrence, a sophomore four-star quarterback, has taken over the full reigns behind center with Leon Strawder transferring to American Heritage.

It’s just about certainty that Miami Northwestern will run the table the rest of the way as the Bulls only have St. Brendan Catholic left to play. Miami Northwestern should finish the regular season with a 9-1 record and the top seed in Class 3A, Region 4.

5. Raines Vikings

Breaking into the Top 5 of the Florida high school football weekly rankings is last year’s Class 3A state runnerups, the unbeaten Raines Vikings (7-0).

The Vikings have dominated the competition they have faced so far this season, with impressive wins coming against Lake Mary and Madison County, respectively. Raines’ latest dominant win was a 52-3 shellacking of Creekside last week as they take aim at an undefeated 2025 regular season.

Senior quarterback Timothy Cole is having himself another superb season behind center, throwing for 1,137 yards, 17 touchdowns and one interception. Cole has also added over 300 yards rushing on the ground, establishing himself as one of Northeast Florida’s top signal callers.

Up next for the Vikings is a home tilt against Yulee (6-1) this Friday night.
