HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A 24-year-old woman was arrested early Friday morning on an attempted murder charge following a domestic-related shooting in Hollywood, police confirmed Saturday.

Officers with the Hollywood Police Department said they responded to reports of a shooting around 2:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of Van Buren Street.

When officers arrived, they located an adult victim in the area of 2100 Hollywood Boulevard suffering from a gunshot wound.

They said the victim sustained non life-threatening injuries and was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.

Police on Saturday identified the suspect as Chevea Annease Freeman, 24, who was taken into custody.

Investigators said the incident was domestic-related and involved only one victim. All weapons connected to the shooting have been secured.

Jail records show Freeman is being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail. She faces one count each of attempted murder and resisting an officer without violence.

A motive for the shooting remains unclear at this time.
