TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Big Bend Hospice will soon expand its services to include Jackson, Calhoun, and Gulf counties, according to the organization.
“This territory is way more than a growth initiative,” Big Bend Hospice Chief Operating Officer Amanda Gustafson said. “It’s about access and equity in healthcare.”
Gustafson said many rural communities have fewer healthcare resources and face delays in receiving care.

“With this expansion, we’re really bringing hospice services to these rural counties so that they can stay at home and have end of life care in their homes,” she said. “Really reduce stress in the families and allow patients to be cared for where they’re most comfortable, which is in their homes.”
To celebrate the expansion, Big Bend Hospice will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday at 9:30 CST. The gathering will be at the Blountstown Magnolia Square Gazebo Complex.
