Though the Florida Gators have added several key players through the transfer portal, new head coach Jon Sumrall’s most significant achievements to date have been his re-recruiting of stars already wearing orange & blue. That was until Saturday, when Sumrall struck big by landing wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. from Auburn, according to multiple reports.
Singleton, who was coached for two years by offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner and inside wide receivers coach Trent McKnight at Georgia Tech, was less successful overall in his lone season at Auburn, where he was taught by Florida outside wide receivers coach Marcus Davis. Now, he gets to be led by all three men in his final year of eligibility.
The standout pass catcher, ranked as a four-star player at No. 28 overall in the portal by 247Sports, compiled 534 yards and three touchdowns in 2025. Under Faulkner, he totalled 1,468 yards receiving and nine scores in his first two seasons of college football.
Withdrawing his name from the NFL Draft after initially announcing his intention to play professional football, Singleton averaged 14.1 yards per reception with Faulkner calling plays for the Yellow Jackets, compared to 9.2 with the Tigers.
Singleton is ranked higher by 247Sports than all five Florida wideouts who entered the portal. By choosing UF, he will have the ability to link up again with quarterback Aaron Philo, who also transferred from Georgia Tech and will be competing for the starting job.
The forthcoming senior joins a loaded set of starters at the position as the Gators return five-star talents Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson. Florida is also hoping Faulkner can get the most out of former four-star tight end Amir Jackson as a pass catcher.
Jadan Baugh returns as the 10th Florida running back to gain 1,000 yards in a single season.
