Bills vs. Jaguars: The matchup
The Bills unleashed their seventh consecutive season with at least 10 wins, but their first since 2019 where they came up short of an AFC East Division title. Buffalo is an intriguing team to follow because of its close ties to the Kansas City Chiefs, having had their playoff runs cut short by Patrick Mahomes and company in four of the previous five postseasons, and the fact the Chiefs missed the playoffs this season. That could clear a major obstacle if the Bills, who led the NFL in rushing and ranked fourth in scoring, can conquer the rising Jags on the road on Sunday.
The Jaguars took huge, collective steps forward from their frequent position as an AFC doormat, orchestrating a full 180-degree turnaround to go 13-4 after going 4-13 in 2024. Jacksonville closed its campaign with eight straight wins, two of which came against playoff teams, and showed its scoring prowess by taking down the No. 1 seed Denver Broncos (34-20) on the road in Week 16. For the season, the Jaguars averaged the sixth-most points per game (27.9) in the NFL and saw former No. 1 draft pick Trevor Lawrence have his best season as a quarterback under first-year coach Liam Coen with 4,007 yards, 29 touchdowns to 12 interceptions and a 91.0 passer rating.
