TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee come to a close, Sunday is the final day for an art exhibit inspired by the event.
On the second floor of the Leon County Main Public Library, you’ll find pieces created by local artists, with work inspired by running, trails and natural landscapes throughout the area. It’s named All Trails Lead to Leon County.
Innovation Officer Elizabeth Loeffelman said it was important to the community.
“It’s a really great showcase of all that makes Leon County so special for everyone that lives here in the community,” Loeffelman said. “But, it also welcomes visitors to the library as well, so they can see all that makes us so unique and special.”

This was the first world championship-level event hosted in the capital city area, and Loeffelman said they were grateful to be part of it through art. More than 40 artists from varying age groups submitted artwork for this display.
“I think the exhibit is special because it brings both the visitors here, as well as the community and it’s a new space for them to kind of connect off the trail,” Loeffelman said. “Libraries are really a unique space in many communities.”
More than 10,000 people attended the World Athletics Cross Country Championships on Saturday, with multiple Florida State alums competing. The United States placed fifth in the mixed relay.
