A fatal golf cart crash occurred in The Villages, Florida on Friday, Jan. 9.The golf cart driver ran a red light and was struck by an SUV.The 64-year-old male driver and his 58-year-old female passenger died from their injuries.
A fatal crash involving a golf cart was reported in The Villages about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 64-year-old Lady Lake man driving a golf cart westbound on County Road 109 ran the red light at U.S. 27/U.S. 441 and was struck by a 23-year-old Eustis woman driving a Kia Soul south on U.S. 27/441.Â
On impact, the golf cart overturned and came to a rest at the southwest corner of the intersection, the FHP reported.
The golf cart driver from Lady Lake and his passenger, a woman, 58, from The Villages, were transported to an area hospital, where they later died from injuries suffered during the crash.Â
The Kia driver and a 1-year-old child passenger were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, FHP reported.
