In a move that has rocked the college football world, the University of Florida has decided it was time for a change after an underwhelming season, despite hopes for a turnaround.
Felipe Castanhl added, “I don’t know what they do next. There is one more home game; hopefully, that will be fun, and we can get a win too, but now that we have no head coach, what are we doing right?”
Napier took over the head coaching position in 2021 with the goal of rebuilding the team. Yet, after a series of underwhelming games, he found himself in the hot seat for some time.
Students have mixed responses to the news.
Isis Cordero said, “I was a little heartbroken. I understand people have mixed emotions about him as a coach. I honestly think mid-season it’s a bit of a tough call, especially after a win. I hope he is okay and that his family will be okay.”
On the other hand, Lars Brown said, “I was a little bit excited about it because we have just been losing a lot of games, and I’m sure there were a lot of games we should not have lost, so you start to wonder who is at fault here.”
Billy Gonzales has been named the interim head coach, and the university will begin its search for a new head coach.
