A Hialeah man who allegedly shot a woman who had egged his home with his ex-girlfriend is facing serious charges.

Jason Alejandro Rodriguez, 18, was arrested Monday on charges of attempted second-degree murder and shooting a deadly missile, Miami-Dade jail records showed.

According to an arrest report, Hialeah Police responded to Mount Sinai Hospital early Sunday and met with the woman who was shot.

She told them she was shot in the area of East 2nd Avenue and East 9th Street while she was in the passenger seat of a friend’s vehicle and had been shot by her friend’s ex-boyfriend, Rodriguez, after they egged his home, the report said.

Officers responded to the shooting scene and detained Rodriguez.

Rodriguez said they threw eggs and rocks at his vehicle, so he armed himself and said when he exited his home, he was hit in the chest by an egg and a rock, the report said.

He said the vehicle sped off but he saw a green laser on his body so he shot at the vehicle, the report said.

But video surveillance from the area refuted his statement and showed he was never struck by eggs or rocks, the report said.

Instead it showed him exiting the home well after the rocks and eggs had been thrown and shooting multiple rounds at the vehicle as it left the scene, the report said.

The video also didn’t show a green laser being pointed at him, the report said.

“Based on the investigation conducted, the defendant provided an inaccurate statement to police where he attempted to justify the shooting; where the video clearly depicts he shot at the vehicle as it sped off and did not pose a threat to him (defendant) and/or anyone,” the report said.

Rodriguez was booked into jail.
