TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D., is withdrawing his re-election bid to the United States House of Representatives, according to a press release.
“After much prayerful consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided not to seek re-election to the United States House of Representatives,” he wrote in a press release Tuesday. “This will conclude my service after five meaningful terms representing the people of Florida’s Second Congressional District.”
Dunn, who has served in Congress for five terms, had originally filed for re-election in April 2025. He was set to face off against three other Democrats, Yen Bailey, Amanda Green and Nicholas Zateslo.
As of January 13, no other Republican candidates had filed to run for the 2nd District.
WCTV reached out to former Representative Al Lawson to see if he would seek this now open district, but he told our Matt Hoffmann that he has no intention of running for Dunn’s seat and is still considering a run for Mayor of Tallahassee.
